CEO of AIFC Green Finance Centre Ltd., Aidar Kazybaev, during his working visit to Tashkent on May 31st, 2021, met with Shakhlohon Turdikulova, Deputy Minister of Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.  Currently, the Ministry is working on creation of the Venture Fund, which requires a management company to organize its operation. In this regard, A. Kazybaev proposed to consider as such - Fintech Hub, subsidiary of the “Astana” International Financial Centre.  

Besides, the Ministry expressed a wish to use the AIFC investor base and capabilities of the registered AIFC members to support promising start-ups in Uzbekistan. The sides also agreed to work out cooperation on exchange of green technologies and environmental projects.

During the meeting with heads of Uzpromstroybank and Turonbank, the CEO of GFC AIFC discussed implementation of green investment principles and green financing. As it is known, on May 27th, 2021, the Green Finance Centre became the regional office of “Green Investment Principles” for the “Belt and Road Initiative” in Central Asia. In this direction, the heads of banks have shown interest and expressed their willingness to discuss in detail.

At a meeting with the Director of SUE “Makhsustrans” Rakhmatilla Karshiev they discussed the possibility of preparing projects on waste recycling in Tashkent with the subsequent issue of green bonds. To this end, the Uzbek company to hold a meeting with the Khokimiyat (Administration) of Tashkent to issue municipal green bonds.

In general, the Uzbek side expressed great interest in cooperation with the “Astana” International Financial Centre.

The Astana International Financial Centre was created by the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Leader of the Nation, Nur-Sultan Nazarbayev as part of the “100 steps to implement five institutional reforms” national program.
